The FA - Youth Heading Guidance
In the 2022/23 season, the FA conducted a youth football heading trial, which was introduced in matches across U12 level and below.
60 leagues across England signed up to take part in the trial and the FA have confirmed that they will be extending the trial for a second year for the 2023/24 season for those County FA and Leagues that have committed to adopt this rule.
I can confirm that the Selby & District Football League has not committed to this trial for the 2023/24 season and therefore heading of the ball is not seen as a punishable offence during games.
Here is a link to the latest guidance provided by the FA relating to heading.
As and when The FA releases further updates on the Youth Heading Trial we will act accordingly as a league, here is the latest post published on 03 May 2023.
We as a league are fully aligned and committed to The FA rules and regulations and will of course act accordingly should there be any further guidance or rule changes related to this subject.
